Intimidation at Interac

Interac has been forced to back down over Head Teacher threats:

One of the recurring themes of English to Go is the way dispatch and eikaiwa schools exploit the foreign workers' lack of knowledge to intimidate and cow them, or simply pull the wool over their eyes. Case in point: a regional head at Interac was called out by the union for threatening to suspend teachers' paychecks - something neither the HI nor the company were legally entitled to do.

With the General Union on its back, Interac was forced to relent, but one can easily imagine they might have let it stand had the union not become involved.  What is also jarring is that the head shed in question was a foreigner as well - someone who might have been expected to show some solidarity with the native English teachers, rather than side with the corporation that exploits them.

Know your rights people.
